Happy New Year, Lovelies!

2013 has started off with something super fun. I’m featured in this months issue of Plus Model Magazine! PMM asked five bloggers to share their fall/winter style… mine was color.

This was also one of the last photo shoots I did with my natural hair out of braids, I had just gotten a cut/flat iron. I’m so happy with how healthy it is right now.

Coincidentally, as you flip through this months issue, you’ll notice that the Rachel Pally dress I’m wearing is featured in another spread worn by the fabulous +size model, Marquita Pring. At first I kind of panicked at the idea of being compared to a +size model in the same dress, but then I reminded myself that when it comes to +size fashion, our different body shapes can make outfits look completely different from one Plus Size Princess to another. So, here’s a chance for you guys to see the same dress on two very different bodies.

The fact that we’re both rocking the same dress goes to show that it’s always good to try things on even if you think it might not work for you… you never know!

I just wanted to update you guys on a few things:

1.) I’ve been getting a few notes that I only do giveaways on Twitter and never on facebook. I’ve heard your requests and I’m cooking up a facebook giveaway for you as we speak! 2.) I’m singing at a coffee shop in Harlem next month. I asked them if we could do a Curvy Conversations meetup in the space after I sing and they said yes! So save the date: September 29th 6:30-8:30pm.

Hey Lovelies,

I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I’ve been asked to walk in a fashion show during the BlogHer ’12 conference next week.

I’m so excited… I’m so SCARED!

This event has been pretty hush, hush but last night I got permission to share the info with my Plus Size Princesses. The bloggers that they’ve asked to do it are all phenomenal women, so I’m honored to be in such good company.

The show will feature selections from 6pm.com and Elizabeth Arden will be taking care of our faces. Most importantly, we will be styled by the ever so fabulous Kathryn Finney! A full write up of the fashion show can be found here.

For those of you who have been asking for photos of me… I’ll be sure to take some during the show.

Hello Lovelies,

I read every single comment that is left on TBGB (usually twice). You all are smart, funny, thoughtful, caring, protective of me… the list goes on! No matter what, you all aren’t afraid to hold back and some of your thoughts and opinions have literally changed my life.

Some of you have said that I’m a “friend in your head”, well… the feeling is totally mutual! I’ve come to know a lot of you through your comments on the blog. I really appreciate all of you, but I wanted to show some appreciation to a few readers who comment on almost every post!

I’ve got presents for four TBGB readers:

There is a new accessories store on Etsy called Sparklewing. They make really adorable rings and pendants with gorgeous glass beads. I like them because their pieces are one of a kind and the designer is plus size friendly! (I was able to get a size 10 ring for my middle finger with no problem).

Honey Clothing Company is a St. Louis based clothing line designed by Lisa Holmes. As a Plus Size Princess, Lisa believes that “every woman deserves a little honey” she decided to create a line that would be sweet enough for all of us to wear.

Honey Clothing Company has donated a super soft T-shirt from her line that I’d like to give to “Kemi“.
