Happy Valentines Day! #PSPstyle

Filed Under: Dating, Fashion, PSP in NYC

I hope you guys are having a fabulous Valentines Day!

Mine is off to a great start, flowers from my Dad arrived yesterday (he’s my #1 Valentine) and Robert is doing a good job coming in second ;-)

I’m always a fan of a day devoted to love. I always take this day to remind myself that my relationship status has no bearing on my value as a person. I wrote a post called “I Haven’t Changed” a few Vdays ago where I reminded myself that having a boy in my life doesn’t change/validate me and it still rings true. I will continue to work on loving myself and keep my fingers that the people around me will do the same.

Now for today’s fashion! Don’t forget that I’m giving away FIVE prizes for the Plus Size Princess Style challenge (#PSPstyle). For details on how to enter/win click here!

Here’s my #PSPstyle outfit from last night and todays Valentines day festivities (you can’t tell but I’m wearing fishnets with a seam and cute little bows up the back… and an awesome bra/panty set from Lane Bryant):

OOTD: SimplyBe.com Coat Review

Filed Under: Fashion, PSP in NYC

Merry Christmas!

Thanks to everyone who helped me choose an outfit for my holiday party. Of course, I can only wear the dress once in a while but the Capelet Trench Coat I ordered from SimplyBe might be my best purchase this winter. I’ve worn it every day since it arrived haha! It was $99, but I had a coupon for $40 off any purchase, so it was a steal at $59! Also, the coat is super heavy and warm. I have a collection of brooches, so I added a few sparkly ones on the lapel for a some glamorous flair.

For those of you wondering, the cape does come off if you want to wear it in a more simple style.

I Found My Plus Size Tutu/Tulle Skirt on Etsy.com!

The first time I saw a Plus Size Princess in a tutu, I knew I had to have one. I spent hours searching online and everyone seemed to have sold out of them the minute they became available. But I was obsessed and refused to give up… somehow I discovered Ouma on Etsy and she made my dreams come true! I sent her my measurements and told her the color and length I wanted and she custom made me a tulle skirt and included a satin sash (although I prefer to wear mine with a more structured belt).

I’ve worn my tutu mostly for singing performances, but when I’m feeling extra princess-like I’ll wear it to a special event.

Help Me Pick an Outfit?

Filed Under: Fashion, PSP in NYC

It’s that time of year again where you help me choose an outfit for my office holiday party.

Last year, I did the survey on twitter and the dress you suggested I wear was a huge hit, so let’s do it again! This year, I’m building my outfit around a vintage bag and sexy/comfy shoes. I’ve narrowed my choices down to these three dresses and these two coats from SimplyBe.com (the names and descriptions are below). Other than the faux fur coat, which would be a total splurge, everything I’m looking at is under $100.

So, chime in and tell me…. which pieces would you choose for an office holiday party?

Greetings from Los Angeles!

So, I got on the plane in NYC and was able to click the seat belt closed with no extender! Then just as I was applauding myself for my weight loss acomplishments, I changed flights in Chicago and the seatbelt was *this* close to fitting, but it wouldn’t and I had to ask the flight attendant for an extender afterall (womp womp!). Goes to show, that its not always us… sometimes its the plane, so we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves when we have to do the oh so embarrassing extender request.

I’m in my home state for a friends wedding. I’m not in the wedding and Robert had to stay behind for a family wedding of his own, so my main goal for this trip is to relax! I’m going to be by the pool and/or on the beach as much as possible starting tomorrow, so I tried really hard not to overpack. I’ve made some discoveries over the past few weeks that made my packing a lot more simple. So I thought I’d share!

First off, I revamped my travel outfit for the summer– remember when I wrote about plane comfy clothes for Plus Size Princesses? Well you can see that post come to life in this picture. The lip gloss I’m wearing is from the See & Be Seen makeup kit by Anastasia. I love the pink color and it pops on my brown skin, which is sometimes hard to find in a lip gloss.

Next, FullBeauty.com has done something I’ve been wanting a swimline to do for a long time… they’re making swimsuits with underwire in them! I always buy at least one halter swimsuit, but for a girl like me with DDD’s, that knot starts to dig into the base of my neck after a while and its not comfortable. Underwire in this vintage swimsuit cut is going to make my time by the pool perfect. Follow me on Instagram (PlusSizePrincess) and I’ll be posting pictures through the weekend. FullBeauty also has a great sheer swimdress that I like– I know everyone is doing the fatkini thing, but I’m just not ready, so these suits work well for me.

Lastly, Ms. Kathryn Finney from TheBudgetFashionista turned me on to the new Crocs… its not those crazy moon shoes anymore, they’re making cute little ballet flats with great support and the size 11w’s fit like a glove. I’m wearing them in the photo linked above!

Anyway, this is what I’ll be rocking all weekend until I have to put on real clothes for the wedding… I’ll post pics of that on my tumblr.

Plus Size Maxi’s for Tall Girls: www.fatphrocks.com (Giveaway!)

Happy Sunday!

A couple of you have mentioned that I do most of my giveaways on twitter and ignore TBGB’s facebook fans, well that’s changing today!

Today I’m happy to introduce an awesome dress designer from the UK, www.fatphrocks.com. Every spring I begin my search for maxi dresses that are long enough for me (I’m 5’10). This year I got a head start on that search and ended up with a stunning maxi from FatPhrocks.

My FatPhrocks maxi is beautiful, quality fabric, rich colors and best of all the dress is actually long on me, which is a big accomplishment and it has adjustable straps so I can get it to perfectly flatter the twins while maintaining the length that makes me feel super chic!

Best of all, these dresses are affordable! Sometimes I feel like being a tall plus size princess mean spending more money on clothes than the average PSP, but this brand is right in line with some of the everyday brands that I shop. Also, even though they’re in the UK I spoke with the owner this weekend and she said shipping these days is only a few dollars… hooray!

Details on the giveaway below…

I’ll be posting the photo above on the TBGB fan page, if you want to win the maxi dress of your choice from FatPhrocks, tag yourself in the photo. If you want bonus entries, “like” TheBigGirlBlog and FatPhrocks on facebook.

3 entries in 3 steps:

1.) Tag yourself in the photo.

2.) “like” TBGB on facebook

3.) “like” FatPhrocks on facebook

The winner will be chosen from the names tagged in the photo!

Plus Size Valentines Dress from Igigi (Giveaway!)

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I think I’ve found my dress! The Kaori Infinity Dress just arrived on my door step last week and this is a dress that I know will take me through the entire year… it’s a convertible dress with 10+ options, I’ve featured 3 of them below and IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel sends it with a belt to help make it even more versatile. The multiple options with this dress makes it a great investment and a worthwhile addition to my Little Black Dress Collection.

I would have loved to wear a red dress on Vday, but since it falls on a Tuesday and I have to work I’m keeping it simple with a LBD and red lipstick/accessories so that I can transition easily from day to evening.

Also, even though these pieces are worth every penny, I know Igigi’s items can be a little out of the price range for some PSP’s. So I’d like to give a $50 gift card to one reader… details below!

Plus Size Travel: Shopping with Igigi (San Francisco)!

While I was in California, I took a few days to travel to San Francisco (by myself, woot woot!). My very first stop was the Igigi headquarters in the SOMA district. I think Igigi is a very important brand for every Plus Size Princess to know about because they were designing Plus Size Fashion long before it was the “cool thing to do”. There’s a reason Igigi’s been around for a while– the clothes are well made! The dresses are fully lined and their sample size is a full 18/20, so they’re designing with a true full figure in mind! (There are many up and coming designers who are taking that same approach even as they study at online fashion design universities which is very refreshing).

Before my appointment I browsed their website to see which dresses I wanted to try on. I ultimately ended up choosing the Odette dress in Olive, a whimsical color I don’t have in my closet. The dress is curve hugging without being restrictive and is daytime & evening friendly. I styled it with fishnets and sueded boots and wore the dress to church on Christmas Day.

What do you think?
